About Us…
Local Family of Meeker, Colorado
We are a family from Meeker, Colorado; all born and raised in the area with relatives dating back to the late 1800’s. Owners are Alan Nielsen, Becca Nielsen and Kaysyn Chintala. Alan and Becca are the step-father and mother to Denee Dinwiddie and Kaysyn Chintala.
Denee and her husband, Levi Dinwiddie, like to come up in the summer for part time help. They have two beautiful daughters, Tayslyn and Tainsley.
A little about us…
Alan Nielsen was raised on a ranch southeast of Meeker where they raised cattle and sheep. He enjoys hunting, fly fishing, trapping, and everything outdoors. Alan coordinates all outfitting ventures through Trappers Lake Lodge and is happy to book your next family vacation to one of our Summer Camps set in the Flat Tops Wilderness. His knowledge of outdoor recreation is vast, and he is eager to help along other outdoor enthusiasts or beginners in the world of wilderness camping and survival techniques!
Becca Nielsen was also raised on a ranch southeast of Meeker - a neighbor to Alan. On the farm they had sheep, chickens and horses. Becca is a retired middle school English teacher of 30 years. Her life long dream of living everyday on the mountain has now come about. Becca loves hosting folks in our rustic cabins where she added luxurious linens and in the restaurant where hearty mountain burgers, fresh baked pie, and signature cocktails satisfy your appetite! Ask her about the history of the White River Valley and Trappers Lake Lodge, but be prepared for quite a visit, as she loves to share tales from the past.
Kaysyn Chintala, also raised in Meeker on a ranch, graduated from Meeker High School in 2013 where she attended Northwest Kansas Technical College to pursue a degree in Business Technology, and lead the Women’s Basketball team as point guard. After graduating, she moved to Grand Junction and worked for JR’s Carriage Service as a teamster (carriage driver) finding her niche in the service industry with the inclusion of horses while driving teams of horses to different wineries in downtown Palisade, Colorado. This passion led to the family’s purchase of Trappers Lake Lodge in 2019 and start KaysynKrystalPhotography in 2021. Kaysyn has two beautiful daughters, Everly and Bexley, who keep her hopping weekdays, but you will find Kaysyn always with her camera: hosting, riding, guiding, and smiling on the weekends at Trappers. Ask her about our famous Elmo’s Margarita— she developed the recipe!
