In the heart of the White River National Forest, 50 miles east of Meeker and 70 miles southwest of Steamboat Springs, Colorado, the Flat Tops Wilderness Area features:
- Over 30 alpine lakes with 1,400 surface acres
- 100 miles of excellent stream fishing
- Some of the largest elk herds in North America
